What happened
A bomb fell beside a bus stop on Hyde Street, killing seven people waiting for a bus. A first bomb had hit the Theatre Royal on Jewry Street and five more fell in nearby gardens without fatalities.
Also worth knowing
These were the only bombs to directly hit Winchester during the entire war — a reminder that proximity to a target city was not the same as being one.
