What happened
A Second World War two-pounder high explosive shell was found in a garden in Sneyd Park. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team moved it to Durdham Downs and carried out a controlled explosion, leaving a crater about three feet across.
How it was made safe
Removed to open ground on Durdham Downs and destroyed in a controlled explosion.
Also worth knowing
A separate unexploded shell was reportedly dealt with at Sneyd Park in June 2017. The two appear to be distinct finds, but that could not be confirmed from a news source.
