What happened
Bombs fell in the Church Street area, demolishing three houses on the southern side of the street and severely damaging those opposite. Four members of the Putt family died at number 4, along with two evacuated brothers aged 4 and 7 billeted there.
Casualty note
Eight died at numbers 4 and 5 Church Street; an 11-month-old boy from Church Street died the following day at Kingsbridge hospital.

The parish church and houses on The Island were also damaged. Salcombe's deadliest single incident of the war.
