What happened
A German bomb about five feet long was uncovered on a demolition site at the corner of The Grange and Grange Walk.
How it was made safe
Removed under escort by the Royal Logistic Corps to a quarry in Kent for controlled detonation.
Evacuation
Hundreds of homes evacuated within a 200m cordon, two primary schools closed and around 100 residents rehoused overnight.
