What happened

A single bomb (recorded locally as 'Bomb 187') destroyed the tenement at 78 Jellicoe Street in Dalmuir, killing 31 people including fifteen of the Rocks family.

Casualty note

31 dead at this single address, fifteen of them members of the Rocks family — one of the largest single-family losses of the whole Clydeside Blitz. Only Tommy Rocks is individually named in the source used here; a fuller casualty list may exist and is worth chasing.

Also worth knowing

The coordinate is a postcode centroid (G81 4HJ), not a surveyed site location. The project's earlier research corrected an assumption that this was in Radnor Park or 'the Holy City' — it was in Dalmuir, a separate part of Clydebank.
