What happened
A delayed-action bomb lodged in a house at 60 Fore Street. Geoffrey Hill — a 14-year-old firewatcher and St John Ambulance member, on his first day at work — was trying to reach the Preston family inside when it detonated, killing him and all three Prestons.
Casualty note
Three members of the Preston family, and 14-year-old Geoffrey Hill.
Also worth knowing
One of only two Brixham raids to cause fatalities, despite the town being hit repeatedly. Contemporary references also mention time bombs falling on Middle Street; no casualty names have been traced for those.
