What happened
The Bath Assembly Rooms were burnt out during the April 1942 raids, and houses in The Circus and the Paragon were destroyed. Completed in 1771, the Assembly Rooms were among the most significant Georgian buildings in the city and were later restored.

Across the raids 218 buildings of architectural or historic interest were damaged. Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths survived, the Abbey losing a stained glass window; St Andrew's and St James's churches were damaged beyond repair and demolished.
