What happened
An unexploded bomb was found at about one in the afternoon on the bank of the River Arun near Queen Street, bringing central Arundel to a standstill. Tidal conditions prevented access until the next morning.
How it was made safe
Made safe by a Royal Navy bomb disposal unit the following morning.
Evacuation
A cordon was placed and residents asked to avoid the area rather than evacuate.
